Denver Rail Heritage
The Denver Tramway Heritage Society operates the Platte Valley Trolley in order to preserve the history of Denver’s electric transit system so future generations will understand the role the Denver Tramway Company played in shaping Denver’s growth and development. The operating season is Friday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoons, May through October. During football season, Denver Broncos fans can ride the trolley to and from Sports Authority Field for home games. The Trolley runs from the Confluence Park stop at REI’s flagship store to Old West Colfax with stops at the Downtown Aquarium, the Children’s Museum of Denver, and Sports Authority Field at Mile High. During the two and one-half mile round trip, the conductor provides details about the nature and history along the Platte River Greenway. In addition to regular and football operations, the Platte Valley Trolley is available for private charters. It’s a great way to enhance a celebration – birthday, wedding, anniversary, reunions, and more.
The Trolley attracts riders from nearby neighborhoods, across the metro area, Colorado, the United States, and beyond. It is operated and maintained by dedicated community volunteers who support the Denver Tramway Heritage Society in many capacities. From working on the trolley, tracks, and surrounding grounds, to serving on committees and carrying out the work of the Society, volunteers provide the time and talent to keep Denver’s electric transit history alive!
