Buffalo Bill Museum

Buffalo Bill Museum

“Let my show go on,” were among the last words uttered by Buffalo Bill when he died in Denver in 1917. And it does, on Lookout Mountain overlooking Denver. There Buffalo Bill’s Wild West and Buffalo Bill live on at the Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave. At the Museum you will learn about Buffalo Bill’s life, observe artifacts from his show, and experience the Old West. You will see Buffalo Bill’s favorite guns and saddles, Sitting Bull’s war bonnet, and colorful posters from the Wild West show. Dress in cowboy clothing and have your picture taken on Stumpy the cow horse in our family activity area. Spend a few moments at Buffalo Bill’s gravesite, enjoying the breathtaking view of Denver to the east (2,000 feet below) and the Rocky Mountains to the west. Then stop for a buffalo burger or bowl of buffalo chili at our café. We have the state’s largest museum gift shop so spend a few moments shopping for unique souvenirs. The Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave site also offers 65 acres of spectacular Colorado mountain scenery and is just 30 minutes west of downtown Denver. Annual events include the Museum’s celebration of Buffalo Bill’s birthday in February and a fall roundup of Old West activities. The Museum is open from 9 am to 5 pm, seven days a week, from May 1 through October 31 and from 9 am to 4 pm, Tuesday through Sunday, from November 1 through April 30. To reach the Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave, take I-70 west to exit 256 and follow the signs. Call 303-526-0744 for more information.
